Java Offshore detects the location of Air Asia’s QZ8501 blackbox during the Search and Rescue (SAR) mission. The Air Asia plane went missing on the morning of 28th December 2014 whilst flying from Surabaya to Singapore. Upon confirmation of the missing flight, the Indonesian Government mobilised its agencies to spearhead a massive SAR operation. Aircrafts, helicopters and vessels were sent to locate the lost plane which carried 162 passengers and crew onboard.

A big shoutout to the our Java Imperia crew and the AUV team for their support and dedication throughout this mission. We hope by reaching this milestone, we may help provide some answers that will bring closure to the affected families and friends of Air Asia QZ 8501 passengers.
